About Cobbofin:

The patent-pending design of every cobbofin was developed for surfers by Matt Cobb, an innovative, experienced surfer who found a way to reduce drag, add torque and turnability with a fin that can easily withstand the demands of today's riders.

Own a piece of surf history:
COBBOFIN was founded by Matt Cobb in 2004. Matt's idea of making surf fins (particularly longboard fins) had been in the making for years. He wanted a high performance longboard fin that would allow more flexibility and increased maneuverability.

As it is with many experienced surfers, Matt tried just about all the longboard fins out there. He tried injection mold surf fins. He tried wood longboard fins. He tried surf fins with different shapes and sizes. You name it. He's tried it. Though the surf fins were all very unique fins in their own right, he still had a quest to develop the ultimate longboard fin. So, one sunny day way back when...in sunny Southern California Matt started designing his own longboard fins.

Countless hours were spent on his quest to come up with the best surf fin. After school, (at the time he was an English teacher at a middle school in Santa Ana, CA) he would venture down to nearby beaches like Newport, Salt Creek, T-Street, Doheny, Strands, Trestles, Church, Old Mans and Trails to test out his longboard fins. He wanted to test his designs in all kinds of surf conditions. He rode everything from clean 12' waves to cold, rainy, ankle high, wind blown slop.

Now, of course, Matt spent a lot of good time and money in R&D. However, the price didn't matter to Matt. He just wanted to have fun and give something back to the community. With its patent-pending designs the Cobbofin longboard fin is meant to make the board more flexible and make the board easy to maneuver without making it slide out or go squirrelly.

"Surfing is like any other sport. We have to keep progressing. We have to keep inventing and keep moving forward. We have to keep the stoke alive and I want to pass that along to my son and the rest of the world. I wanted to create a quality longboard fin that everyone would enjoy." Matt recently said.
